Sourcetel specialized in repeater (CEO: Lee Ki Young http://www.sourcetel.co.kr) is born again.
Sourcetel initially established as ‘Daehan Industrial Electronics’ in 1993 developed fiber-optic repeater for the first time in Korea, and provided customers with frequency band sharing repeater for PCS & cellular.
After that, Daehan had not achieved visible accomplishment. Daehan changed its company name into Sourcetel and reorganized its management system in 2000.
Sourcetel selected Lee Ki Young, senior vice president, Daegyung Engineering as its CEO and let him generally manage the company. In addition, Seo Won Seok, president, Sourcetel, who has many experiences as an engineer, actually manages over-all business of Sourcetel, such as marketing, manufacturing, technology, etc.
Sourcetel is achieving some kind of results by those efforts. Sourcetel exported repeaters equivalent to 6.3 billion Won to China Unicom. Sales was 11.6 billion Won and net income was 1.7 billion won last year.
This year, Sourcetel is growing as fast as it did last year.
In the first half of 2001, Sourcetel supplied sample of In-building repeater to ‘A’ company, one of the biggest operator in Japan, and secured a foothold to go into Japanese market for repeater. Sourcetel expects to export repeaters equivalent to 6 billion Won in the end of this year after the filed test is complete.
Sourcetel expects to provide repeaters as many as it did last year in China Unicom’s second bid since it is cooperating with a lot of Chinese companies, such as Seoho Electronics, Wayout, KOP, etc.
Domestic business is also going well like abroad business. Sourcetel passed SKIMT’s first BMT for IMT 2000 repeater through its partner and are trying to obtain the right to supply IMT 2000 repeater to KTiCOM.
Sourcetel recently attracted investment capital equivalent to 1.5 billion Won from investment organization. In consideration that domestic market for telecom equipment is going worse than ever, 1.5 billion Won is a quite large sum of money.
Mr. Seo, president said, “Our latest achievement might be impossible without concentrated energy of more than 70 staffs. With continuous effort to lower the cost, we will strengthen the price competitiveness and enlarge domestic & foreign market share for repeater.”
