¡¡Though Japanese market is the greatest market in the world, it was Nederland for domestic telecom equipment suppliers until recently because of its entry wall. Now, Japanese market leaps into exporting target of domestic suppliers.
¡¡Japanese market is one of the biggest market in the world with USA and China, but Japanese suppliers¡¯ high technology & strong capital power and closed mind of Japanese operators frustrated Korean suppliers. Because Japanese operators usually didn¡¯t change their suppliers after they chose one, it seemed hard that new suppliers enter the market.

¡¡However, Samsung Electronics, Youngwoo, Sourcetel, etc. succeeded in going into Japanese market recently.

It is notable that domestic suppliers are engaged in the all section from base station, which is basis of telecommunication network, to repeater, which is essential for popularization of telecommunication. Domestic suppliers are also actively going into Japanese market of very-high-speed-internet network, such as ADSL & VDSL. We can expect that wireless & wired telecommunication network equipment made in Korea may be installed all over Japan someday.
¡¡Sourcetel, repeater supplier, (CEO: Seo Won Seok http://www.sourcetel.co.kr) lately supplied test In-building repeater and secured a foothold to enter into this market. ¡¡Youngwoo Telecom, (CEO: Woo Byung Il) which has supplied repeaters to KDDI since 2000, expects to supply repeaters equivalent to 5 billion won, which is twice as much as sales in last year, in the second half of this year. Youngwoo Telecom opened branch office in Tokyo for earnest business in Japan. KDDI planned to increase the deployment of repeater in the second half of this year, and Youngwoo Telecom focuses on that.
¡¡Samsung Electronics (CEO: Yoon Jong Yong http://www.sec.co.kr) entered into Japanese market of base station for the first time in Korea. Samsung Electronics obtained right to supply cdma2000 1x EVDO base station equipment to KDDI August 9, 2002 and planned to supply this equipment equivalent to 100 million USD first.

¡¡In consideration of Yongwoo Telecom¡¯s supply equipment to KDDI, Korean equipment is expected to become the center of KDDI¡¯s network.
¡¡Soe Won Soek, CEO, Sourcetel said, ¡°In fact, Korean suppliers have regarded Japanese market as pie in the sky. Because the road is just opened, more and more Korean suppliers will be able to go into this market from now on.¡±
